5、PTFE fiber braided packing
PTFE fiber braided packing, the product is divided into six grades.
During use, a small amount of leakage is allowed at the beginning. After a period of use and when the packing reaches a relatively stable state, the packing gland should be adjusted. It is not advisable to tighten the gland too much at the beginning, to prevent the packing from burning out.
6、Carbon fiber braided sealing packing
Carbon fiber braided sealing packing is a new type of material with high strength and high modulus. It has the advantages of high strength, large elastic modulus, heat resistance, chemical resistance, good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, and self-lubrication.
During initial operation, the packing gland should be lightly tightened, allowing a small amount of leakage. After running for some time, the gland should be gradually tightened to allow the packing to enter a relatively stable state. For carbon fiber PTFE braided packing (FTH-1), if leakage is found during operation, the packing gland can be tightened multiple times.
7、Phenolic fiber braided sealing packing:
Phenolic fiber braided sealing packing has advantages such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance to acidic media, good adsorption, thermal insulation, low friction coefficient, wear resistance, no pollution to human body and environment, and low cost. It is mainly used for stuffing seal in high-pressure plunger pumps, high-pressure water pumps, FRP acid-resistant pumps, methyl amine pumps, reciprocating pumps, and oil well deep well pumps. The performance is shown in the table below:
Applicable media: acids and alkalis, organic solvents, engine oil, steam, water, etc.
8、Expanded graphite (flexible graphite) material:
Expanded graphite (flexible graphite) material, in addition to possessing the excellent self-lubricating properties, corrosion resistance, wide temperature resistance, radiation resistance, wear resistance, and low friction coefficient of graphite itself, also has advantages such as flexibility, low density, compressibility and recovery, and wide temperature range of use. It can be used for media with pH value of 0~14. Except for a few strong oxidizing media such as aqua regia, concentrated nitric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, and heavy chromate salts at high temperatures, which are not recommended, other media can be used. Before installation, the packing ring should be cut with a blade, then only slightly axial twisting is allowed, and it should be mounted on the shaft and pressed into the stuffing box. Each ring's cut should be staggered by 900 or 1200. A slight leakage is allowed at the beginning of operation, and the leakage will gradually decrease with time.
9、Carbon-graphite material:
Good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, chemical stability, thermal shock resistance, self-lubrication, and machinability. In the pump industry, it is used for end face seals, expansion ring seals, mechanical seal rings, axial seals, rotary piston seals, etc., in centrifugal pumps, shielded pumps, diesel distribution pumps, submersible pumps, clear water pumps, high-temperature heat oil pumps, nuclear secondary pumps, boiler feed pumps, and air pumps.
10、Rubber
Natural rubber: has excellent flex resistance, good wear resistance, low-temperature resistance, and insulation properties, with high tear strength. However, it has poor aging resistance, weather resistance, oil resistance, and solvent resistance. Pumps made from natural rubber compounds are suitable for working temperatures below 78℃. It is suitable for conveying various abrasive slurry and weak acid and weak alkali solutions, but not suitable for conveying strong acids, oils, aliphatic and aromatic solutions.
Nitrile rubber: is currently the most widely used oil-resistant rubber type, with a series of superior properties. Its wear resistance is 30~45% higher than natural rubber. Its high-temperature resistance is better than natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber. However, nitrile rubber has poor weather aging resistance. Pumps made from nitrile rubber compounds can be used up to a maximum temperature of 95℃. This type of rubber is suitable for conveying various animal and plant oils, mineral oils, and glycols.
Butyl rubber: pump parts made from butyl rubber compounds are suitable for acidic slurry applications. The maximum working temperature is 100℃, and it can resist strong acids and strong alkalis (such as hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide). However, high concentration oxidizing strong acids (such as concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid) will cause degradation of butyl rubber.
Fluororubber: after vulcanization, this rubber has excellent heat resistance, ozone resistance, oil resistance, and resistance to various chemical reagents. However, fluororubber is somewhat inferior to general rubbers in processing and bonding, and is also more expensive. Pumps made from fluororubber compounds can be used up to a maximum temperature of 170℃ (in general media).
11、Ceramic
Aluminum Oxide Ceramic (Main Component: AI2O3): Generally possesses extremely high hardness, good wear resistance and chemical stability, as well as high insulation and high melting point. In the pump industry, it is mainly used for ceramic pumps and mechanical seal rings under special operating conditions. Ceramic can resist almost all corrosive media including hot concentrated nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, aqua regia, salt solutions, and organic solvents, except for hydrofluoric acid and some other fluorine-containing substances as well as hot or concentrated alkali solutions.
Silicon Nitride Ceramic: Has better thermal shock resistance than alumina ceramic, while other properties are basically the same as alumina ceramic.
Silicon Carbide Ceramic: Has excellent chemical corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, good wear resistance, high temperature resistance, self-lubrication, and low friction coefficient. Therefore, it can be used as a high-temperature structural material for mechanical seals in pumps and pump shafts in magnetic drive pumps, showing significantly better performance than ordinary ceramics. Silicon carbide is currently an ideal friction pair material. When paired with carbon graphite, its dry sliding friction coefficient is lower than that of alumina and hard alloys, and its PV value is higher than that of alum, and hard alloys. Silicon carbide ceramic has excellent wear resistance and can resist almost all chemical corrosion except for a few media such as hydrofluoric acid, including strong corrosive liquids such as concentrated nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrochloric acid.
12、Permanent Magnet Material
Ferrite Permanent Magnet Material: Compared with metal permanent magnet materials, it has high coercivity, high insulation, good resistance to external magnetic field interference, and low cost. It can be used as magnet steel for the inner and outer rotors of magnetic drive pumps.
Rare earth cobalt permanent magnet material: possesses excellent magnetic properties, especially high coercivity and magnetic energy product, which are the highest among existing permanent magnet materials. It is very suitable for use as permanent magnets in magnetic pumps, although its high cost has prevented widespread application.
13. Other materials
Paint for pumps: serves for protection, decoration, and marking. It is classified by usage effect into anti-rust paint, insulation paint, acid-resistant paint, etc.; by coating layers into primer, topcoat, putty, etc.
Paper gasket material for centrifugal pumps:
Felt material for pumps: used for manufacturing oil seals, preventing lubricating oil leakage while preventing water and dust from entering. It is divided into fine wool felt, semi-coarse wool felt, and coarse wool felt.
Industrial sulfurized rubber sheet (GB5574-85): ordinary rubber sheet, acid and alkali resistant rubber sheet, oil-resistant rubber sheet, heat-resistant rubber sheet.
